Preventing Joint Pain in Your Dog

Older dogs, just like older people, are susceptible to a wide variety of issues, including joint pain. Although you can help to relieve your dog’s joint pain with joint supplements for dogs, like Natural Stride, one of the best ways to deal with joint pain is to prevent it from happening in the first place. Unfortunately, we often don’t realize that joint pain is a problem until it has already happened. Luckily, we are here to help! The following is our list of tips to help you to prevent joint pain in your dog:

  • Adjust your environment- Does your pup love to cuddle with you on the couch and on the bed? Make it easier for them to get to you by placing a ramp or a set of dog stairs next to your couch or your bed. This will help to prevent painful injuries.
  • Supervise your dog’s exercise- Exercise that is too intense can put strain on your dog’s joints, and it could also make them more susceptible to injury. Supervise your dog during exercise, so that you can make sure that they are staying safe.
  • Maintain a healthy weight- Excess weight can put additional stress on your dog’s joint, so it is important to help them maintain a healthy weight with a balanced diet and regular exercise.
  • Get injuries treated right away- Treat any injuries that occur as quickly as you can. If you ignore an injury for too long, it can lead to a more serious problem that could be a constant issue in the future.
